The effect of metabolic syndrome management program in a public health center

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of metabolic syndrome management program implemented in a public health center by comparing the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and risk factors of metabolic syndrome.
Method: Data were collected from 168 participants aged between 30 and 64 from January 1th to June 30th, 2015. The subjects were examined on waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein cholesterol.
Result: The average number of risk factors was 3.07¡¾1.01 before metabolic syndrome management program. After management program, balance of five risk factors of metabolic syndrome was decreased significantly.
Conclusion: Metabolic syndrome management program could effectively decrease the risk factors of metabolic syndrome. Further research is needed to develop a comprehensive program on health behaviors such as exercise, diet, and increasing medication compliance.
